Jowai, Aug 20: The Court of P. Syngkon, Special Judge, POCSO in West Jaintia Hills District has sentenced a man to 20 years imprisonment for raping a minor girl in a jungle while she and her friend had gone to collect firewood in 2017.
Heingaid Bareh has been convicted for the offence under section 3(a) of the POCSO Act, punishable under Section 4 of the Act.
The court in its verdict on August 18 also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on Bareh.
The case registered at Jowai Police Station was investigated by WPSI RM Suchiang.
