Two women were found murdered in their home near Nongstoiñ, West Khasi Hills district today, police said.
The victims are identified as 79-year old Phlisis Syiem and 22-year old Maitlynti Lyngdoh Marshillong, an orphan from Tiehsaw village, who stayed in the house.
Police suspects that the women were murdered last night and their bodies were discovered by villagers this morning.
West Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Herbert G Lyngdoh said a case has been registered and a police team has been detailed to investigate into the murder and to arrest the culprit (s) involved in the murder.
Meanwhile, the West Khasi National Youth Front has condemned the murder and urged authorities to speed up investigation and punish the culprits at the earliest.
