The court of the Special Judge (POCSO) in East Khasi Hill District has sentence two men to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a 12-year old girl.
In a verdict passed on October 27, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 each on the convicts, Mortonjune Kharbani and Lumding Syiemlieh.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger said the survivor was raped multiple times by Kharbani in 2017 in her house while she was alone at home.
The trail in the case was taken up based on an FIR lodge at Mawngap Police Station which was investigated by WPSI Larisha Kharjana. In the course of investigation it was revealed that the rape survivor had also been sexually assaulted by Syiemlieh.
Nongtnger said the case was charge sheeted against both the persons on January 28, 2019.
