Shillong, Aug 27: The Special Judge (POCSO) East Jaintia Hills convicted two persons in connection to two cases of sexual assault on minors and awarded them rigorous imprisonment and fine.
One Sawen Tangliang was found guilty under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He received punishment of rigorous imprisonment for 25 years and a fine of Rs. 30,000.
In a separate ruling, the Special Judge sentenced one Ganesh alias Sangi Rai or Popo to 20 years rigorous imprisonment along with fine of Rs 20,000.
Both the cases registered at Khliehriat Police Station were investigated by Sub Inspector L. Siangshai.
