Two Bangladeshi nationals were detained by the 100th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya in West Garo Hills yesterday.
The two were identified as Md Habibulla (31) and Md Jahangir Mia (35). They were found while “roaming suspiciously” inside Indian territory, the BSF said in a press release today.
During interrogation, they revealed that a Bangladeshi tout called Farukh facilitated their illegal entry into India. He has promised the duo to get them work and to arrange fake documents for them for a fee.
The two were handed over to police in Purakhasia for further action.
