Shillong, Aug 3: In a crackdown on illegal narcotics, two individuals, both residents of East Khasi Hills, were arrested today for possessing heroin.
The duo were travelling on a Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) bus from Silchar to Shillong when they were intercepted by authorities acting on prior intelligence.
Upon conducting a thorough search, officials discovered two soap boxes containing 23.24g of heroin.
Both men were subsequently taken into custody and a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The police are now working to identify and apprehend the supplier from Assam.
