The Directorate of Dairy Development today handed over milk transportation and testing vehicles under the National Programme for Dairy Development to 18 dairy co-operative societies of the state.
A function was held at the Central Dairy Campus, Mawiong and attended by Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Minister Alexander Laloo Hek .
Speaking on the occasion, Hek acknowledged that dairy farming in the state is still in the developing stage, therefore he encouraged the people to engage in dairy farming to boost the productivity of dairy products and to be self-sufficient.
He also called upon the private sector to work together with the government in maximizing production and also generate job opportunities for the youth.
Secretary of the department Dr Manjunatha C and Director of Dairy Development L S Shangpliang was also present on the occasion.
