With 87.10 per cent pass percentage among the state board students of Class X, institutions in the state have revised their capacity to accommodate successful students.
This year’s pass percentage surged dramatically from 55.8 per cent last year, a jump of over 31 per cent.
The government said 55,473 students cleared the SSLC examination while the existing capacity in the State’s higher secondary institutions to the HSSLC is 51,000 prompting it to temporarily halt admissions.
To address the gap, the East Khasi Hills district administration convened a meeting with all heads of educational institutions yesterday.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, there are 162 educational institutions with plus two that have agreed to enhance their capacity to accommodate more students in their institution without compromising the quality of education.
