Nearly 16,000 people have been affected by weather-related events since April 1, with eight fatalities recorded in the state.
According to data from the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), 15,991 people across 504 villages have been affected, with 3,739 houses damaged, 220 of them fully.
In the last 24 hours, the authorities confirmed the death of one person in Nongjri village, East Khasi Hills. The person died on May 13.
Heavy rain and landslides were reported from Saipung and Wapung blocks but detailed reports are still awaited. One house was also partially damaged due to landslides in Mawthadraishan block.
Only 12 hectares of agricultural land was deemed to have been affected by the bad weather since April 1, according to the SDMA, and seven animals killed.
The level of the weather disasters has not necessitated the deployment of the National Disaster Response Force, armed forces or local forces.
Meanwhile, after vehicular movement was halted and travellers stranded along National Highway 6 due to landslides, the Khliehriat-Sonapur-Ratacherra route was reopened from 3pm today.
East Jaiñtia Hills police continued to advise drivers to proceed cautiously, as the road conditions were still not conducive due to incessant rainfall and mudslides.
Further bad weather is predicted in many parts of the state for Tuesday and the rest of the week.
