Fourteen people were injured when a Tata sumo collided with a Baleno in Jyntru village situated along the NH-6 in Ri Bhoi district.
The incident happened at around 12 noon today, police said. Out of the 14 passengers inside the sumo, the condition of three passengers is said to be critical and were shifted to the Shillong Civil Hospital.
All the occupants of the sumo (ML 06 – 5669) are from one family and were heading towards Nongpoh from Nongthliew village. However, when they reached Jyntru junction, a speeding Baleno bearing registration number ML-10 B-9539 dashed into the sumo, police said.
The driver of the Baleno was shifted to Bethany Hospital in Nongpoh.
Names of the injured passengers are yet to be released by Nongpoh police traffic branch even as investigation into the mishap is on.
