101 Area, First in Dhaka, celebrated 74th Army Day today by laying of wreath at the Prerna Sthal in Shillong to pay homage to the brave hearts who laid down their lives to protect the country.
Army Day is celebrated every year in recognition of Field Marshal KM Cariappa’s (then a Lieutenant General) taking over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Fransis Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India, on 15 January 1949.
