One person was killed and two others were injured in a lightning strike at Golflink here today.
The deceased was identified by police as Dinesh Nonglang (37), a resident of Mawlai Umjaiur.
The three were playing football when a thunderstorm struck. They then took shelter under a pine tree, which was then struck by lightning.
Police received the information at around 3:45pm. The casualties were taken to Shillong Civil Hospital where Nonglang was declared dead.
It is highly recommended that individuals do not shelter under trees during a thunderstorm. Tragically, the trio did not practise this today.
